Place your bets and ready for the off!!

On 21st November we held a fund raising event at which nearly seventy people sampled the delights of fluffy pigs racing towards a close finish!

The betting took place to cheer on the pigs – not real ones but little fluffy pink pigs – as they raced down the track!

Pink Pigs

It’s hard to believe how such a large crowd could get so excited but everyone entered in to the spirit of the evening waiting expectantly to see if they would be collecting their winnings from the tote for their pound stakes.

Andy ByngThe occasion was driven along by the energetic Andy Byng who spent the whole two hours in character as a wurzel singing along to songs by Adge Cutler and the Wurzels and some other well known songs. He brought his own vibrancy to the build up to each race and ensured all present were highly entertained.

Before the races began Bay Hog Roast provided excellent baps full of succulent pork, crackling, stuffing and apple sauce served along with salads and later puddings supplied by Twinning members.Hog roast

Rumours that one of the racing pigs was lined up to provide the food were unfounded and be assured no animals were hurt in the presentation of this evening!

In addition we welcomed Tim Hughes representing the PTA of the Primary School selling raffle tickets for a grand array of prizes donated by both PTA and Twinning members. £106 was raised from the raffle which was all donated to the school to support the French school link project. A group of children are going to Le Pre d’Auge next summer the first of which we hope will be an annual exchange between the two countries.

Many thanks to all who supported the event and let’s hear you all shout ‘Oooh…Aaah’.
